September 23

Hi!  I guess I'm the first to post.  I'm on leave and supposed to be writing, so I expect I will be posting a little more regularly than most.  I wrote for about 2 1/2 hours today: most of it revising a proposal and prepping a brief talk I'm supposed to give tomorrow at the Columbia Public Library on this year's "One Read" Book.  I installed a mindfulness program on my computer, which set up 15 second breaks every 15 minutes and a 3 minute break every hour.  I found it helpful, if but just to take a deep breath and be more aware of stress in my body.  I'm hoping to try a little meditation tomorrow before writing.  Since I'm on leave, I can spend the whole day writing, but I am trying to set up a more fixed time of 2 hours.  Working toward a schedule.  We'll see how it goes.

  1. Hi, this is Yang Wang. I worked on my research statement this morning. I studied it for about 1.5 hours, looking up how to write it online and some samples. Then I wrote an outline for about 30 minutes. Again, I had my app "Time Out Free" to control my time. So it was quite mindful I think.
